Medical Nutrition Therapy
Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) is dietary counseling that treats the "whole person". MNT is an analysis of an individual’s health history, screening current lifestyle habits and developing a nutrition plan of care to improve the health and well-being of the person. MNT can only be provided by a registered dietitian.
MNT improves the health & quality of life for individuals with:
- Diabetes: Type 1, Type 2, and Gestational
- Renal disease: insufficiency, chronic failure, and kidney transplant
- Cardiovascular diseases: hypertension, dyslipidemia, and congestive heart failure
- Pulmonary disease: COPD
- Overweight/obesity, bariatric surgery, and eating disorders
- Cancer
- Immunocompromised: food allergy, HIV/AIDS
- GI disorders: celiac disease, cirrhosis, and Crohn’s disease
MNT services are covered by most insurance plans including Medicare Part B.
